After School Teen Center

Tri-City’s MIP and Outreach team helped implement a 'pilot-program' at Newark Memorial High School presenting sex prevention and health education to young males. Classes are held after school at the Teen Center 2 hours per day, 4 days per week. Scheduled topics are facilitated by the MIP staff.

National Pregnancy Prevention Day

On May 7, 2008, the Outreach team joined thousands of teens nationwide in the seventh annual National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. The purpose of this event is to focus attention of teens on the importance of avoiding unplanned teen pregnancy and parenthood. TCHC conducted our community event at Newark Memorial High School during the lunch period for the students, with the full support of faculty, staff, and principal. The message was straightforward: Sex has consequences. We estimate that over 200 teens attended the lunch time event. All the teens that participated in the event were referred to Tri-City Health Center for services.
